KANGA YOGA Kanga yoga is an energetic alignment-based style flow class. We use music, gravity and the breath to rediscover and rejuvenate the body and the mind, inspired by the teachings of Swami Sivananda, Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar and Sri Krishna Padabhi Jois. Yoga is a way of life and a way of self-study. Kanga yoga classes will deepen guests’ practice. The classes provide a practical understanding of yoga. Each class offers the opportunity to focus on specific postures, their benefit, alignment, and breath control. AYURVEDA Ayurveda and yoga are Sister Vedic sciences that have been united for thousands of years. They show the way to achieve sacred balance in the mind and body, which leads to physical and mental wellness. Ayurveda ("science of life" in Sanskrit) can be defined as a system, which uses the inherent principles of nature, to help maintain health in a person by keeping the individual’s body and mind in perfect equilibrium with nature. Ayurveda is a complete way of life. As a holistic health system comprising diet, Yoga, massage, detoxification, herbal remedies, meditation and daily lifestyle. Ayurveda improves not only a person's health, but also their well-being, behavior and state of mind. MOVEMENT & MELODY Music itself is Hatha yoga sadhana: for it involves a good amount of control and regulation of breath. There is deep and full breathing; and this greatly strengthens the lungs and purifies the blood, too. Moreover, the various musical notes have their own corresponding Nadis (subtle channels in the vital sheath of the body) in the vital centers within the Kundalini Chakras and music vibrates these Nadis, purifies them and awakens the psychic and spiritual power dormant in them. Join Kanga’s yoga teacher, Emma Bonnici and sacred singer, Kat Drake on their journey of movement and melody fine tuning the chakras. Integrating sound, colour, asana and mudra to bring the body and mind into balance and harmony. EXCURSIONS Kunjapuri temple Kunjapuri is one of the main and renowned temples of goddess Durga. This is the place where a part of the body of goddess Durga fell and since then the place is known as a sacred pilgrimage. Kunjapuri temple, situated in Uttarakhand, is one of the acclaimed temple among 51 temples of goddess Durga. The plain white entrance which was dedicated to goddess Durga by army attracts everybody. This temple is one of the main picturesque places of Garhwal. One can view the beauty of nature which surrounds it. Situated on mountains, the temple is a center of the indissoluble faith of devotees. The faith is bounded by the sight of the goddess and devotees are attracted to this place. Neer waterfall Located at the foothills of the majestic Himayalan range, Rishikesh thrives with greenery, wildlife and river bodies. One delightful trek is up to the Neer Garh Falls, a pastoral waterfall very close to Lakshman Jhula. The walk from the road side up to the falls takes a pleasant 30 minutes, and is dotted with smaller falls along the way. You can literally stop by the wayside to smell the flowers and soak in the sounds and sights. River rafting Of all the rivers of the Indian subcontinent, the Ganga is perhaps the most beautiful. It originates from Gaumukh in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas and is a superb river for inflatable rafts. Rafting on its waters is an unusual experience and one to cherish. To ride these rapids and to come to terms with their strength and wildness is to grow in spirit and to nurture the very stuff that dreams are made of. Ananda Palace Located in the tranquil Himalayan foothills, close to the mythological cities of Haridwar and Rishikesh, surrounded by the graceful Sal forests, overlooking the peaceful Ganga as it meanders into the distance. Ananda is the spiritual pathway to the ultimate, discovered through the union of body, mind and soul. Parmarth Niketan Ashram The Ganga Aarti at Rishikesh is an unforgedably spiritual experience. Performed each evening at sundown at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram, on the banks of the holy river Ganga, it is an event to gladden the heart and feed the soul and create harmony with the elements. Fire, Water, Earth and Air combine in perfect synergy during this ritual and leave you with a feeling of having witnessed perfection. The one and half hour ceremony, starting with sacred chants and a ‘Yagna’ or fire ceremony, during which a mixture of sacred herbs and ghee (clarified butter) are poured into the fire in order to dispel negative energies, is concluded with the Aarti, during which the river is worshipped as the source of life on the physical plane, and as a symbol of the eternal life circle on the metaphysical plane. Breathtaking views, wild seasonal flowers and the birds that come to flock on the flowering trees, Raga is truly a “resort” for one's soul. The Raga experience is not complete unless one gets an adrenalin rush with white water rafting, reflect with yoga on the river side, get pampered at the spa and indulge in a gastronomic affair! FEATURES General BBQ facilities Café nearby Environmentally friendly Restaurant Restaurant nearby Terrace Services Currency exchange nearby Medical assistance Shop nearby Tour assistance Tour assistance nearby Activities Kayak Kayak nearby Massage Massage nearby Spa SPA TREATMENTS A Kanga Ayurveda massage is designed to detoxify and cleanse the body by helping break and remove the toxins within the gross and subtle bodies. The toxins (Ama) are understood to be leftover putrefied-food stuff that has taken a grease-like form. The longer the Ama is retained in the bodies the more stubborn and harder they get and become embedded, thereby making removing them difficult, time consuming and unpleasant at times. Our Ayurveda massage therapists use specialized oils (warmed) that are chosen to suit your Dosha. The style and flow of the massage is determined by who you are, and what your body needs for balance and wellbeing at the time. Our Ayurveda therapists focus on the "Marma points" (vital energy points) in the body. Marma therapy is an important part of Ayurveda, as it involves the conditioning of these vital areas. Effective conditioning of these areas can improve and maintain a good health balance.
