Pet hostels jam-packed as owners book space for their dogs to celebrate new year

#Dehradun #Uttarakhand Most pet hostels in Uttarakhand's Dehradun now is a chock-a-bloc with dog owners who have flocked here in huge numbers to leave their pets and celebrate the New Year at various destinations. While the rush is on peak this new year season, many owners have failed to find space for their pooches since they haven't booked in time, as the place is nearly full. It provides pet owners with the facility to be in touch with their pets through canines and social media, according to a report published in Times of India. "We were planning to celebrate New Year in Shimla and wanted to put our dog in a hostel over the year-end. But I was surprised to learn that there wasn't space in any of these places for at least a month. Now, we have no option but to leave him with our relatives," said Anjali Singh, owner of a two-year-old Rottweiler. One of the attractions for those opting for a hostel is that they can stay connected with their pets while on holiday. Most of the hostels are offering canines and their owners the facility to be in touch through WhatsApp and Skype, a gesture which has got many hooked. "While searching on the net for dog hostels, I saw there were some which enabled you to be in touch with your pet even when you were away. So I went to one of them. Although they charge extra for it, it's worth it since you can see how your pet is faring without you. I am glad I can video chat with my pug, even while on holiday," said Suman Singh Rana, who is vacationing in Mussoorie.
