In Pithoragarh, teacher's Facebook campaign helps save girl’s eyesight


#Pithoragarh #Uttarakhand A Hindi teacher at a government school in Chaukhal area of Pithoragarh started a campaign on Facebook and WhatsApp to fund the cornea transplant of his student Rabina, however, response was so good that he now intends to get her sister treated as well. "Since so many people have been supporting us, my next objective is to help Rabina's elder sister, Sangeeta, who has virtually no vision in both eyes and had to drop out of school after Class IV. At present, her movement is severely restricted. It will be a major motivation for us, if we are successful in restoring her vision also," he said. According to a report in Times of India, over 600 donors, including teachers and doctors, chipped in with contributions ranging from Rs 11 to Rs 5,100 in response to Ravi Bagoti's appeal.
