It was Uttarakhand’s berry jam that satisfied Nehru’s sweet tooth

#Dehradun #Uttarakhand Inder Prakash (85), owner of A Prakash & Co, remembers the time when India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru would arrive at his shop with his sister Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, who lived in Landour, and stop at his store to pick up cheese and berry jam. Remembering Nehru on the eve on his 125th birth anniversary, Inder Prakash said, "We have served several generations of the Nehru family. I vividly remember that in the 1930s, Jawaharlal Nehru would come with his family to the hill-station and buy our homemade cheese." "I have also attended to Sonia Gandhi while she visited our store, years back," he said, showing that the store, by also serving the Congress chief, had been visited by at least four generations of the Nehru clan. Nehru's father Motilal would visit Mussoorie and Landour to recuperate from illness, and shopped at A Prakash & Co.
