Kedarnath pilgrims to get new SOS app for safety


#Dehradun #Uttarakhand After massive flash floods ravaged Uttarakhand in May last year claiming thousands of lives, the Harish Rawat-led state government is now taking extra precautions for tourists and pilgrims who will be visiting Kedarnath this year. They have decided to use smart technique in which every pilgrim will be asked to download safety and security apps on their phones at the time of registration, reported Punjab Kesari. Using these apps, pilgrims will be able to warn the administration if trouble of any nature arises. To do this, they will simply have to press a button on their phones. The state government is in talks with telecom companies to implement the initiative, the report said. Notably, Kedarnath will be thrown open to pilgrims on May 4.
