Union Minister Mahesh Sharma opens yoga festival, talks of expanding Jolly Grant Airport


#Dehradun #Uttarakhand Union Tourism Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma inaugurated International Yoga Festival in Rishikesh on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion the minister said, “Efforts will continue to promote Rishikesh worldwide as a yoga hub and to attract more tourists government will work for its beautification time and again. The minister also spoke about the jolly grant airport and its expansion. He said, “Delhi airport is a very busy and congested airport so in order to cut down the congestion from the airport, the parking and cargo service can be developed at the jolly grant airport.” Further talking about the GDP and boost in tourism, Dr Sharma said, “Presently around 0.64 per cent foreign tourist visits India which provides around 1 lakh 7 thousand crore foreign currency to government. If that 0.64 per cent could be brought to 1 per cent than tourism could contribute up to 9 per cent in the GDP.”
