BJP leader Prakash Pant accuses Congress of misleading people

#Pithoragarh #Uttarakhand BJP leader Prakash Pant on Saturday accused state government of misleading people over the issue of making Gairsain the permanent capital of the Uttarakhand. Congress has been in power from the past three years but still failed to settle the issue, said Pant. Gairsain, a non-descript town in Chamoli district, was declared the unofficial capital of Uttarakhand by the statehood activists in the 1990s because it's centrally located. When Uttarakhand was formed, Dehradun was made the interim capital on November 9, 2000. Since then, the issue is still hanging in the balance. While on his visit to Pithoragarh, Pant slammed Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat for neglecting development projects in the state. He also alleged Rawat of wasting public money.
