Saluted by Modi, this young bravery award winner still awaits recognition from Rawat govt


#Dehradun #Uttarakhand 17-year-old Labhanshu Sharma gathered much accolade for putting his own life at stake to save two persons from drowning in the Ganga in May 2014, however, he stills awaits recognition from the state government. Sharma, a proficient wrestler who has represented the state in several national championships was bestowed with the National Bravery Award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Republic Day celebrations in Delhi on January 26. He had, on May 24, 2014, unflinchingly jumped into a 40 feet deep Ganga at Rishikesh to save the lives of two individuals who had been swept away from the banks by underwater currents and were about to drown. According to a report in Times of India, nine months after the incident, the teenager says the state government is yet to send him even a congratulatory message.
