Teenager puts life at risk to save Chakrata accident victims

#Dehradun #Uttarakhand A 16-year-old Ajay Kumar on learning about his friends' accident in Chakrata on Wednesday showed greater courage and rushed near Purodi area and did his best to rescue the accident victims. As per a report in TOI, when Ajay reached the spot he saw that a jeep had fallen into a 400-metre deep gorge and the people in it, including his two friends Kabir (23) and Mahesh (22), were crying for help. He decided to help them and gathered as many people as possible from nearby areas and began the rescue work but, it seemed that luck was not on his side as the team led by him lost its balance and fell on Kumar because of which his left leg got fractured and was taken to Doon hospital. Meanwhile, by Wednesday evening, all the bodies were taken out from the gorge. On Thursday afternoon, CM Harish Rawat paid a visit to the 16-year-old boy in the hospital and applauded him for his courage. He also announced Rs 25,000 reward.
