Details: Join us on a spiritual pilgrimage to the Himalayan village of Rishikesh. This Northern Indian town is known internationally as the world capital of yoga. Cows roam the streets, monkeys play in the trees, and friendly locals invite you into their shops for tea and good conversation. We will be enjoying service days with Helping Hands for India, a non-profit providing a school for a rural community near Rishikesh. Join us for this unforgettable journey through yoga and service! November 1 – Arrive in Delhi. Check into hotel. November 2– After breakfast, we begin the journey in a private a/c vehicle to the spiritual town of Rishikesh. Rishikesh is known worldwide as the capital of yoga. The city is lined with venders selling spiritual goods, ashrams encouraging seekers into their walls, delicious vegetarian food being served at Holy Ganga view cafes, cows roaming the streets seeking affection, and spiritual sadhus holding ceremonies at the banks of the river. It is a magical place! Welcome dinner at 60s Café. (B, D) November 3 – We will get a taste of the ashram life style as we enjoy classes throughout the week with Adi-Shakti’s teacher, Yogrishi Vishvketu. These classes include pranayama, asana, chanting, and meditation under the guidance of a true master. The yoga space at our hotel will be available in the evenings. We can take turns teaching, enjoy self-practice, or find another discipline to explore in the rich diversity of Rishikesh. (B) November 4 – After morning practice, free day to relax by the Ganga, take photos of Saddhus and monkeys, or haggle at the market. Dinner with the founder of Clean Himalaya to learn more about the noble work of this environmentally focused organization. (B) November 5 – After morning practice, enjoy a free day. Adi-Shakti will always be available to help you in planning your day or coordinating activities. Tonight, we will enjoy the sacred aarati at Partmarth Niketan Ashram. (B) November 6 – Morning yoga and meditation practice. For lunch, we will enjoy Ramana’s Garden a local income generation cafe and orphanage near the ashram. Meet the children benefiting from the cafe and help them practice their English. Evening free to explore, find a ceremony on the river, or dive into a spiritual book by the pool at your hotel. (B) November 7 – After morning practice, we will venture to the Helping Hands for India school. Meet the local children and enjoy sharing with them in special activities. A portion of your trip costs will be donated to this program. (B, L) November 8 – 9 – After morning practice, enjoy free days. (B) November 10 – Transfer to Delhi in private a/c car for international flights or additional time in India. Optional Agra (Taj Mahal) add-ons available upon request. We also advise that you speak with your doctor regarding a prescription for an antibiotic to combat food and water borne illnesses. Recommendations for India include: Hepatitis A and B Typhoid Flight Plan to arrive to New Delhi on the evening of November 1st, 2014 and depart from New Delhi the evening of November 10th, 2014. Note that arrival date in India will likely be different than departure date from the United States.
