Details: Join Robert and Mandy from Kookaburra Creek Yoga Centre on this two week retreat designed to take you deep on your joga journey. Located in Rishikesh on the banks of the Holy Ganges, this is an opportunity to experience yoga at its source. This region of Himalayas is considered by many to be the one of the most beautiful areas in the world and a sacred pilgrimage centre. It is the birthplace of meditation and yoga with a rich spiritual history. For countless millennia, saints and sages have taken refuge to perform intense spiritual practices at this point where the river comes down from the mountains in caves, many of which are still in existence, and later in ashrams and spiritual centres dotted along the banks of the Ganges. The landscape is sublimely beautiful and the water from the river fresh and clear. We invite you to join us on this journey to the spiritual home of yoga to enjoy a sublime retreat and deepen your practice and experience of yoga and meditation. Rishikesh is well known for its ashrams, but is also an interesting and beautiful small city with an extensive bazaar, cafes, restaurants and places of interest to explore. There are also many temples and spiritual sites in the area to see. Our intent is a relaxed but focused 2 week retreat for those interested in going deeper on the yoga and meditation journey and in accelerating their own spiritual growth in a supportive and guided environment. On this retreat you will experience yoga at its source and have intimate and inspiring encounters with sadhus, swamis and saints. North Indian cuisine is exquisite, Risikesh is a completely vegetarian and alcohol-free region ensuring the purity and sanctity of the place. The accommodation on this retreat is in the Rainforest House, a beautiful, small, private venue on the banks of the Ganges designed to be in harmony with the natural surroundings. Rainforest House is about 10km upstream from Rishikesh, and 3km upstream from Luxman Jhoola (where many ashrams, markets and restaurants are located). This is an easy 10 minute taxi ride or 25 minute walk along the Ganges. The retreat venue has a maximum capacity of 18 people, with guests sharing rooms (with separate single beds), each with their own ensuite bathrooms. Rooms have an outlook over the river or the forest and the open air yoga room also looks out to the river. Immediately below our retreat centre is a private beach perfect for meditation, yoga, bathing and meditation.
